Valve train and camshafts

Here is the deal, I want to upgrade my valves, valvesprings, retainers, etc. Considering that the EG33 block is identical to the EJ25 block except with two more cylinders, can I use the aftermarket valvetrain products available for the mid '90s 2.5RS. If not is there any place that makes them? Ferrea said that they would do a custom set but, for BIG money ($1400). Also does anybody make camshafts for this car?

As far as I know no one makes valve tran parts for the eg33. Every thing would have to be custom made.

I thought cobb was working on some thing, but that was a long time ago.

Actually the 3.3 block is based on the 2.2 block, not the 2.5. And even though the 3.3 and 2.2 share some similarities (like bore and stroke), none of the internals are the same.

Dave
We do share similar internals we have the same rods as a legacy turbo (ej22t) and we share similar piston design.

He was asking about the valvetrain though

and we are not like the 2.0 and 2.5's with the shim and bucket arrangement. We are like the 2.2 with their hydraulic lash adjusters, different valve stem lengths (than the 2.0 and 2.5) and different spring diameter (compared to the 2.0 WRX)

Todd (buddies with WRX's have given me lots of parts to play with )

Yes, the rods are the same. That one slipped my mind.

Dave

EDIT: I checked into this. The rods are the same as all the early Legacy's, not just the turbo models. The rods were also used on the 1.8 liter Impreza for a short while. Other than that, the internals are unique.
