WTH is a Dommy?
And this is not a trick question!
I'm looking for a switch to use for 87 Octane code activation of the ECUtune Stage1 kit. Looking at the right-hand side dash switches there is a blank next to the rear defogger switch I thought I might be able to use, with a factory switch. This is after deciding against placing an aftermarket switch inside the change pocket, since solid steel and wiring live behind it. Went to subaruparts.com diagrams to find there's a "blank", and a "Dommy" switch that will fit there. Part #83003PA010 "Knob". Before anyone suggests using another rear defrost switch, I know I could do that, but this "Dommy" thing has me intrigued, and I'd like a different symbol on the switch to prevent any confusion. A factory switch, complete with dash illumination, and "on" indicator lamp would be ideal. Anyone familiar with this term, or useage of said "Dommy switch"??? Glenn

who's the "dommy"???
Alan, I thought of that, but why then list a "cap", and different USA and Canadian listings?http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=830-A
And why would a "dummy" list for more $$ than a real switch? Anyone else? Glenn

The seat heater switch is installed where the coin holder goes.

Thanks again Earl, Dave and Alan. Think I'll try a small rocker down near the wiper Summer/Winter switch. The material is thin enough and easy access to that area in close proximity to the ECU and power.

Is there actually a working switch behind the blank beside the rear defog?
If not would it be possible to convert the left side cluster (with the extra switch) to fit on the right hand side?
