Re: Drones

basic video drones are pretty phenomenal. I dropped $1000 to have tilt & pan capability. Gotta say they are fun used judiciously in good weather. Go for the best price basic and work your way up if interest turns to enthusiasm.

Video still of my bud Doug's country house major renovation. He has me out every week tracking the progress. Bookend addition - garage/kitchen/office joined by massive great room, housing two grand pianos,to a modest 2 bdrm manufactured home set on a basement foundation sited on a glorious sloping site overlooking a meandering tributary valley. Doesn't look like a valley at this height. Sight line runs straight across the water to a farm on the far side.

Re: Drones

Conn, I don't have a measurement. It was way up there and could have gone higher. I would have had I had the tilt control engaged. I was using the the beginner mode setting. I have a Horizon BLADE 350 QX2. Flight time is about 15 minutes so until Horizon comes out with a 6000 MAh lipo battery I have twinned two 3000 together for a flight time of 30 minutes. The second battery has to be strapped to the outside shell in the balance sweet spot but it flys steady and more importantly, longer.
The QX2 includes their own Cgo1 camera, an equal substitute for the GoPro.
Free downloadable software wifis images to your smartphone or tablet secured to the RC controller on the ground. the camera and gimbal button controls are on the tablet's touch screen monitor. It's too easy...
I have not yet graduated even to the second level and the third gives you complete unfetter control of the copter aka, speed, ceiling height and acrobatics.

Re: Drones

Is yours GPS controlled? I see people flying them and they look easy. They look out of the box stable. I have not flown in years. I have a small copter, I have problems hovering.. The videos look hands free..
This is the one I was looking at..

Re: Drones

I don't have any of the larger camera drones but the fiance bought me a Blade QX Nano for my birthday last year. Super fun little thing, nearly indestructible against anything but our weiner dog when he was alive.

Re: Drones

I guess what I am trying to find out is
: are they fairly stable out of the box. When u go up will is go smooth or flop around?
6 axis Gyro will it hold position, ( hover hands off )
I know some have GPS positioning. You can pull them away from hovering position and they return. They are big buck $500 -and up.
There are 50 UTube vids about the 262 /333 $ 66. /$88. They look so easy to fly.

Re: Drones

My son-in-law is a home inspector. He bought a pretty fancy drone to do overhead imaging - chimney, roof, etc. plus glam shots from higher altitudes. It was a GPS model; he could position it, then put the control down and use his cellphone to take pictures. GPS would keep it virtually motionless in the air. He was flying it at a job in Baltimore City one day when it suddenly turned right and disappeared. He never found it.

Re: Drones

Reason I am looking at the WT V333 quad @ $100 not a $400. I would love the hands free GPS feature. Brookstone stores were selling a Parrot version for $199 that had it with FPV and operated with your I Pad / I Phone. Can't find it for sale anywhere.
