O/t Hotshoe
Your mailbox is full. Anyway, my response:

Neon Coupe with bad engine and a billion miles: less than 1,000 dollars 2.4 engine from stratus or minivan etc: 750 dollars new clutch: 300 dollars falken axenis: 350 dollars Konis: 600 dollars Mopar X hi rate springs: 80 dollars Intake: 100 bucks UDP: 100 bucks Header: 200 bucks There you go. Cheap ass car that makes quite a bit of power, has a lot of torque, is reliable enough to drive to and from the track, still gets good MPG, and handles AMAZINGLY. - Ca$h |

why not use
the 420a twin cam motor, it should bolt right in, considering the Neon coupe came with them(might be a quicker swap)
My sister-in-law has a base model sedan and it's not that bad of a little car. Might turn into a posible 'use to get me back and forth to work' car when the MR2 finally dies completely.

Its a common myth that Eclipses and and neon share the same powerplant; fact is, they don't. Just very similar. The head is all changed around and everything, it'd be a huge pain in the butt. However, the 2.4 liter is externally identical to the 2.0... it also has twin cams, but more displacement... to top it off I'll put the 2.0 valve cover on the 2.4.

I did not mention
the Eclipse at all. The Neon was produced with that engine. You must be thinking of the 4g63 that was in the Eclipse/Laser/Talon/Galant. There was also a 1.6 liter variaty called the 4g61. All they did to make a 2 liter was take the 1.6 bore it and stroke it. That engine was available in the Colt GT/Colt GT Turbo/ Mirage/Summit.. Hyundai also uses a derivative of the 4g61, although it was in the early ninties. But anywho, back to the Neon/Eclipse thingy. Yes, the eclipse did have the twin cam. The Neon as well had the twin cam. The 4g64 is the 2.4 liter SOHC 16V engine.
DISCLAIMER This information might be a little old. The 2.4 liter might be a twin cam at this point. I haven't been keeping track of the Mitsy engines like I used to. Also, the new Neons might have a completely different engine than the ones that they had when they first came out with.

Do you know where that 1.6 liter now resides? The new Mini cooper. And yeah, the neons still have the same old engine.

Glad that that wonderful little engine is back in action. Confused as to why BMWwould use a Mitsubishi engine in their cars.

Re: Re: O/t Hotshoe
I'm looking at my bank account right at this very moment and I can sadly say that I will not be able to purchase that vehicle.

My dad had a 944 Turbo back when they were still being made. I remember it well. It was a badass car (although everything seems 'cooler' when you're 7 years old) hehe.

They still are badass cars... :P
Its just that stupid coolant/oil gasket on the goofy radiator that gives those cars so much trouble. - Ca$h |

Not the radiator itself, but the seal between the coolant and the oil. its sorta a weird connection, like a hose inside of a hose, and that seal always goes, then it screws everything up. :|
I really wanted a 944 until I read more about them. I appreciate their performance but I don't think I'll ever get one, just because of the maintenence, parts, etc. Plus theres one tool you need (i think for timing? Either that or belt tensioning, I forget... I think its the belt tensioning) that you can ONLY get from Porsche and its like a few hundred bucks. Blech. - Ca$h |
