Trunk tool kit

There is a tool kit bag in my trunk. It is black and has two snap shut pockets. There are two black metal square things in it that are about 4" square each and look like oversized seat belt buckles. Does anyone know what these are and what is supposed to be in that tool kit bag?

yeah they're supposed to be there. They go under the wheels to keep the car from moving while you change a tire.. i forget what they're called.

My tool pouch came with a cheap pair of pliers, two open ended wrenches, the wheel chocks, and an allen wrench for closing the s/r if the motor fails. I think the lug wrench is in there too.

If they are supposed to stop the tires, how come they are not wedge shaped? These are black and they are about 4" square and are about an inch high and not solid. You can see through the top and bottom.

These things are designed to fold open into a wedge shape, being held open by a metal "U" that swings down from one side. Compared to most "real" chocks I've seen these things are pretty scrawny but I guess they would help if you're fixing a flat on a hill or something like that.

Sounds like the wheel chocks, all right. I think those so-called "tools" were part of a puny attempt by Subaru to justify charging $30K for one of their cars.

My chocks were rusted together and I drenched them in Liquid Wrench to make them function. I don't really know why, I doubt I'll ever use 'em. The open-ended wrenches and screwdriver are long gone (no great loss), but I do have my two allen wrenches!

i replaced all my tools in my obs early on, it sounds like the're equally crappy, the lug wrench is worthless, you need a crosswrench, and that screwdriver i threw out the first time i tried using it, no wheel chocks tho, or wrenches...
still have the jack, but i haven't used it in ages
i bought a bunch of tools for the obs, which i really should remember to take out... i boguht a crosswrench for the lugs, and a quality adjustable wrench, and a magnetic wratcheting screw driver that stores it's bits in the handle, and it came w/ a tool for the hubcaps, which is completely worthless, but it does work to break into the car and unlock the locks from the inside (just cause i thought it would work)

get real tools.
