Vdc

Just wondering anyone with a VDC Outback. Is it really impossible to lose control of the car? Such as get it to do AWD donuts and power slides in the snow.

I took out the car at my dealership and did donuts at about 45mph in the rain. Nope. VDC kick in when you are about to loose control. You can floor it but there is no power in the car, until the car feels like there is control

Amazing system

L

for the sake of the dealership's safety, I can not disclose the name of the dealership just incase SOA is watching us.

Go to Holmgren Subaru in Norwich they'll let you drive it like you stole it. part of their initial test is taking it in their back lot off road to see how good it is in the snow.

Depends on the dealership and the how well you know them and what not. I know every one at my dealership and they are still offering 8k off the VDC for me. They will even repaint the car any colour I want since I don't like that two tone thing.

VDC is impressive

It is on our G35 and is amazing in the snow, especially when combined with snow tires.

I took the car out and tried to pitch it around in an empty parking lot. Couldn't do it. Here's a car with 260hp/260 lb-ft or torque in a package that weighs 400 lbs less than the SVX driving just the rear wheels and I couldn't get the rear end to step out more than a foot or so before the car grabbed control and reigned it in. I was impressed.

I don't know In my opinion the thing I like about the non VDC awd system is tha fact that it transfers your power in stead of shuting it down.

Not entirely, Phil. You can disable some of the functionality, but not shut it off entirely.

I'm also too old/too smart(???) to be worried about whether I can smoke the tires on my car or pitch it sideways in a turn.

One of my bud's has a BMW 740i with their traction control. It manages wheels on all 4 corners and you cannot even do a donut with it. Knowing how it drives in good conditions (pulls like a freightrain) absolutely amazed me in the snow. The thing is nearly unstoppable and perhaps better than an SVX in the snow due to the fact that the back end never gets away. Technology sure does work wonders.

Todd

from what l learned, age has the least bit to do with maturilty,i would think that on a 36k dollar car sportily built would have the option of being able to shut the system off. Most every car ive ever seen has a traction cotrol switch. i wouldnt want to throw a nice car like that around anyways though.
I just like to have my fun every once in a while, while im still young. Ive got more then my fair share of maturity. And trust me, its not by choice.
