Lighthouse results

Sorry this has taken so long but I've had sevral projects converge on me over the recent holiday and I'm now just starting to dig out.

Anyway, all who came to the Wind Point Lighthouse on the 1st climbed and survived. Although the Point lived up to its namesake (20-25mph winds) the air was very clear and visibility was somewhere around 30-35 miles (even with my old peepers).

Colin (montypython) and Doug (morhds) brought their wives and, along with my son and spouse, we all made a fun time of the event. Although I think Doug might comment that it "Doesn't look that tall from the ground" Once you are standing on the balcony at the top I think it seems much taller. (an aside to Doug and Colin, you guys have to plan a trip over sometime to clean the beer out of my fridge. My only alternative is to pour it into a pan and use it to steam brats. A shameful use of some good Rolling Rock and Sierra Nevada )

If any of you other SVXers are interested (Doug and Colin also) in taking a private tour of the Wind Point Lighthouse please drop me a line. I think if we got about 15-20 people together I could persuade the Village Clerk to do something for us for a reasonable "donation". Resond either here or via email and if interest looks great enough I'll work at setting something up. For those of you wondering where the lighthouse is, it stands midpoint between Miwaukee and that suburb to the south (Chicago).

Actually yes. Sorry about that, it isn't really on a map as such. If you look at a state map of Wisconsin there's a piece of land sticking out into Lake Michigan halfway between Milburg (Milwaukee) and Chicago (indian word for "stinking onion", or something similar). The Village of Wind Point is out on the end of that "point".

...and I wouldn't mind having some for dinner! Oh the "steamed brat" was an opening I just couldn't let go by. I don't have the self-control that Bill, Ron and the others have.

I figured as much, Don. But we all have our local "things" that dissapear when we leave our local areas. Just don't seem to be able to find fresh sausage once you leave the Milwaukee area. Or "bubblers" for that matter And just try ordering a Brandy Sweet someplace outside Milburg!

I didn't have my first pizzaria pizza 'til I was 17 years old. I had heard of "brats" as a child (watching TV -- my window out of the hills of rural Kentucky). After finding my way out of the tobacco fields and avoiding life in a factory by getting a job in radio, I became "a man of the world." I finally had my first Bratwurst in 1985, my 30th year of life. It marked 2 firsts: My first Bratwurst, and; My first Major League Baseball game -- which just happened to be Game 4 of the 1985 World Series -- Cards against the Royals at Busch Stadium.

And the question is: Have you managed to stop eating them? They sell them here in HUGE boxes at the supermarket. Something like 10lbs for $12. But ya gotta boil 'em in beer before ya grill 'em.

Nope, can't stop. 'Specially since they've recently made the "Johnsonville" brand available here. And, I don't boil them in beer. I just grill 'em. If they want to "boil in beer" they'll just have to do that *after* I eat 'em.

Well Randy, you'd be a natural at what I do. I support manufacturers looking to improve their process flow and I think you have maximized the efficiency of beer soaking a sausage

Definitions for Don;

Bubbler is a drinking fountain.

Brandy Sweet is Brandy (the liquor) mixed with 7-Up or Sprite equivelant. Milwaukee is the capitol of beer and brandy. Of course up north on Washington Island they drink Angostora Bitters by the shot. You can try that if you want to *really* gag. It's made from fermenting some sort of tree bark. Yummy! Gackk!!!!

Actually John, I do it the other way around. I grill em then boil them in beer. I guess it takes a while for us Brits to catch on
I'd be game for an SVX take over of the light one day, just name the date.
