kablooie!
the reason i need tires is because 4 days ago the wife had a blow out on one of the front ones. so i look at the others and although two weren't bad tread wise i see a few cracks in the sidewalls and decide might as well replace all of them. i now have to get them mounted. i have to admit i didn't take the advice of those here and went with the customer surveys from tire rack and got the sumos at sears. we'll see how they go, or don't go, in a few days.

Re: kablooie!
I didn't see any comments here about the Sumitomos, but I got them because they were cheaper than the Dunlop and Yokohamas. So far, I've found them to be very quiet and the car's handling and tracking don't seem any worse. I got the HTR+ (Z rated) for about $120 a piece including mounting, road hazard and lifetime balancing.
