How much do you spend on Yours?

About how much do you all spend on your subaru in a year. I mean we all talk about babying it, but somtimes I feel like I have a super model with a chronic health condition.

OK, here's my response

last MONTH I spent $2k on a WRX trans, clutch lighweight flywheel, two new oxygen sensors, and new strut mounts. Last YEAR I probably spent close to $3K on brake parts, head gasket replacement (parts weren't that expensive but I NEEDED tools ), Koni struts, etc. All this on a car worth AT MOST $3K.

Momma, I don't feel so good

Todd

(nice call on Denise Richards, Boone! )

Nope

I do most of the work myself, including removing the engine and replacing the headgaskets.

BTW - I bought expensive tools.

Strange...

my wife would tend to disagree .

Oh, I also gave a good chunk of money to my local powdercoating house and I purchased a junk SVX for parts.

I have said this many times before and now it sounds like preaching. But I will say it again. It all depends on who owned the car before you did.

My red 94L -- I owned it for about a year and I sank in more than 10,000 USD. 30% of the total time that I owned it, the damn thing was in the shop. I am not kidding.

My current 94LSi had been good. So far less than 1500 in parts and labour including oil changes and I drive a lot. I got it in July with 160k now I have 195k miles.

You should contract out, maybe you could help other SVXers fix up there SVX's, and then you'd get to meet other fanatics, your wife would be happy cause your hobby wasn't costing as much and might actually prove profitable, and you would get enough practice to cale yourself a Guru. Then all you'd have to do is find a mountain with a lot of steps. Of course then your wife might not be so happy again. But live and learn.

Sorry to make you preach and all that, but I was just looking for whats typical. I bought mine just over a year ago. It's been down for 7 of those 12 months and I've dumped a lot of cash into it. I'm not sorry about the money, because it is after all only money. But, part of me does wonder if I'm not just asking for more of the same luck.

Not many SVX's in Detroit...

or MI fr that matter. Three of four people on the board here. I rarely if ever even see another (one every three months or so). No, Detroit is not a haven of imported cars by any means.

Thanks for the kind words though.

Cash!

Well, In the last year I have spent upward of $5,000 on my 92 SVX that is probably not even worth $3K. Sounds rediculous when I put it that way. Between the 5 speed swap parts, all the parts I broke in the interior putting it back together, brakes all around, wheel bearings, spoiler, new radiator, and many other misc parts here and there. I'm crazy i know! Hopefully this year will be cheaper but I'm sure it won't be What will I need next? An engine? I hope not. haha. Next to buy..a power steering rack. Ouch! A wopping $762.00 from the factory. This car will be the death of my wallet but I still love it. And after all it's only money right. Ya can't take it with ya when you die so you might as well dump it into what you like.

Meg
