I can be artistic too

Once upon a weekend dreary, While I was driving, weak and weary.
Driving through many a quaint and curious road I’d driven through before.
While my head bobbed with the slapping, of the roads that I was tracking
I heard the endless tap tap taping, of the rain that I found rapping, raping on my rental doors.
“Tis a Storm, “ I muttered, “taping at my rental doors.
Only this and nothing more.”

From my dear friend Poe I would counter, it was in a month of winter,
And this has nigh to do with embers, and their ghosts upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished tomorrow, would not bring so great a sorrow
From my drive sucrease of sorrow, sorrow for the lost Lenore
For the rare and stainless auto whom the angels named Lenore
Nameless here forever more.

With quick uncertain twitching, I saw my beauty, in leaves in passing.
And this Thrilled me- filled me with fantastic hopes never felt before!
So here I am, hardly driving, paralyzed I sit repeating
“Tis a Storm tapping at my rental’s doors-
Some silver raindrops and their easy rapping at my rentals doors.
This it is, and nothing more.”

Presently my will grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
I quickly sneaked a glance the way I’d looked before.
I hopped to find a goodly vantage, but through the fog I could not manage
Maybe I had dreamed my sighting? Mistaken due to vast condensing
Could it be my glance was true?” – here opened wide the door.
Darkness there and nothing more.

From my car seat I sat peering, windshield wipers gently gleaming
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared dream before;
But the fog remained unbroken, and the darkness loomed unspoken
And the only word there spoken, was the wind whispered word, “Lenore!”
Taken, stunned, and somewhat frightened, I murmured back the word, “Lenore?”
Merely this and nothing more.

Weakly I just sat there peering, into the darkness and it’s leering
When again I heard the naming, of a car I’d owned before.
Surely, said I, may car cannot be hiding in the mists that are concealing
I am quite sure there is nothing there I have not seen before.”
And with my heart, quickly pounding, I heard the wind; it’s voice resounding
“TIS THE WIND AND NOTHING MORE!”

I felt my courage start to shudder, and before it left me, and did sputter.
I raced into the silky mists to find no car, but tread marks from the night before.
I turned around and saw it standing, a stately raven most perplexing,
Not an instant stopped or stayed he, but with mien of lord and lady
With stately grace he stood there gazing, and now I knew what was in store.
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Stunned, I stood there, barley moving, when it smiled, most confusing.
For the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
“Though your smile is most intriguing, you, surely are no lowly raven.
Flying to this dreary system, for some idle conversation, Speak yea now, friend or foe?”
Is yours the voice that I’ve been hearing, whilst I gaze into the bleakness of the darkened shore
Quoth the raven “Nevermore”

How could this be, I quickly wondered, is this a dream- what was I eating?
The Ravens answer- what was its meaning- it’s sounds strangely like something I’ve heard before.
Into the rental I dove quickly, closing the door and driving swiftly
I left behind the raven and my vision of my lost Lenore.
I did not notice for some time then, the flock of feathers right behind me
And the distant Squawk “Nevermore.”

I left the rental in my driveway, ran through the rain to reach my doorway
When who should I find perched on rafters protruding through the first floor?
The stately raven stood there gazing, standing, gazing, never changing
“Oh why good raven! Do you seek to pester me again just as you did before?
Not a feather did he flutter, as I stood there drenched and rain covered
Until finally he uttered, “ Lenore Nevermore”

I stood there in my cold wet sadness hoping to go inside and rest but nigh I yelled.
Why do you speak the name of the car I owned before! She is gone forevermore
But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word did outpour.
Till I scarcely more than muttered “other friends have flown before.”
On the marrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.
Quoth the raven “Nevermore.”

I stood there glaring, how dare this foul red herring
Speak to me in such a word as he did you now and before.
Nothing further did I utter, wishing only to this bird smother
Praying that a bold of lightening would strike him dead upon the floor
But the raven stood there knowing, seeing now my anger showing
Smiled again and spoke the words he’d uttered many times before.
That sad answer “nevermore”

The raven lost his concentration, glancing away from his sad station
To look out too the misty mists I hadn’t been seen through before
And there it sat a reverent beauty, whose only flaw was her sad duty
A glimpse of silver in wet pearls galore sat the auto the angels named Lenore
And then the raven found concentration and drew my eyes with orbs of wisdom
And sadly said “nevermore”

I looked around with my heart aching, and now the ground had started shaking
Or was it me that was quaking, quaking with a bit of shaking as I watched my car detour
I saw the silky mists move in and wondered how this could have been
How could I once again be forced to lose me dear and sweet Lenore?
But the raven without hesitation sought to remind me of his station
A ghostly echo of recitation “Nevermore, Nevermore”

With one last look for observation the raven took flight from his station
Leaving me to wonder of the things that had gone before.
Could it be that I was wrong to trap a beauty oh so strong.
And thus be left without a car to get me to a store
And sadly I glanced to the mists, felt the moisture of its kiss
And sadly uttered what the raven said before. “Nevermore.
