Tinting the Windows

Hey Guys,

Anyone had succes with tinting these damn windows. I love the style but S**t i cant even get the film on right. I have tinted many a window but can't seem to get this one done. Anyone done it without taking all the windows off and having them dipped.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I am also making a template of the SVX logo, copied it from the site. I am going to have it put inot the rear non movable windows on both sides. I thought of having the windows done really dark then having the SVX logo done in a silver reflective tint. Should look outstanding since mine is Liquid silver on the bottum and Black on the top. Yahooooo. I'd be willing to share the template after i get it done. A top notch tinting place said $265 to tint all the windows. Anyone else got a quote out there?

Caio

All you Cali-SVXers go to the region section and sign up. Especially the so cal ones. They have a car show up here in Valenica and i would love to have at least 5 SVX's show up and line them up in a row. Would blow these suburbians away.

I have a very dark tint on my windows. It was done before I got the car. I love it. Mine's a pearl with black top. The top disappears at night. As for the 265.00, once you've wrestled with that film for a while, especially when it comes to the back window, you'll find that it's a bargain. My rear window was done in one piece, so, I don't even want to think what the guy who tinted mine went through.

A static cling decal of the Network logo will be available soon, very soon. Available on John Rowe's site (www.subarusvx.com) and will cost two bucks apiece, which, I believe, includes shipping.

when i first bought my car...

i had my windows tinted to 35%. i only paid like $150 and now three years later it is still holding up. it is illegal in memphis to have the front or back windows tinted. it is also illegal to have more than 35%. good luck and i hope you find someone willing to do it for less.

Window Tint

I walked into a shop and asked them for 20% tint. All said and done I paid $200.

It's illegal and I know it. Only been stopped once and they checked the tint. The meter said it was 12%.

They gave me a week to remove it. It's been 2 years. No ticket yet.

Mine came with 20% on it when I got it. I love it. Keeps the place VERY cool, and cuts the glare completely.

I have some pics of it on my site, in case you are wondering what it will look like:

On another note...I finally took the time to remove those FU**ING "MaxMuscle" decals from my rear 1/4 windows. The guy who had my car before me must have been a knob.

Thumbs up Tint prices

I've got a friend thats in the tinting business, who cuts me a good deal. I had him tint the rear and the stationary side windows with 20% all for only $60.00!!
Having the Stationary side windows tinted really shows the split window design, and shades the sun as its going down to the side where the visor dosen't help, plus I still have a clear view out the side at night. At least I like it

I was actually thinking of that myself and how that would look. Plus it is illegal out in California to have the drivers and passanger side windows tinted. I probably could get away with tinting the tops. and back.

I have started the template for the SVX logo to be put in the window. I was thinkg of going very dark on the tint and a silver reflective film for the logo. I will lok great on my SVX since it is black on top and Liquid Silver below. I Think the match would be outstanding.

Re: Window tint

I got mine tinted about 3 months ago at a reputable (and SVX experienced!) shop for around $200. 20% on all windows, including a 6 inch strip across the top of the windshield! Very nice on hot days and I love the look! I know it is illegal here in Washington, but I've had it on just about every car I've owned and never a comment from the cops, even when being pulled over for something else. Hope the trend continues with the SVX.

On a side note, when I had my '97 200 SX SE-R, I had 5% all the way around. (no windshield strip, the SVX is my first for that) It looked awesome, pretty much impossible to see through from the outside under any conditions at any distance. But it also affected driver visibility, especially at night. Not the best for a daily driver.
