Blower motors interchange?

My heater blower motor quit working - took it a part and it's ready for a replacement.

The commutator copper slip surfaces are very badly worn.

I was able to fiddle with it enough to get it running for now.

The part # stamped on it is 72023PA000.

Does anyone know it it is interchangeable with other Subarus?

I guess the OEM part is roughly $200 - any cheaper alternatives worth looking at?

I can get an aftermarket one for a 1994 Legacy here cheap....

The 4 Seasons Legacy 1990-1994 is a direct fit except for the connector.

I pulled the blades out from the original (motor side), crimped some little modified universal blades on the motor leads and they clicked right into the connector.

Works fine - at a fraction of the OEM part cost.
