The only "chick" to make a comment about my car at work liked other "chicks".

This was witnessed by co-workers and is a constant source of crap for me.

Maybe that's why I'm 43 and still single.......

Significant Technical Input
Just tell them you're in the same boat - that you only like chicks too. Then ask them what they're driving. If there's a guy there driving a Fiero, make an effort to put your back to the wall whenever he's around (or pick the car of someone you want to tease...)

the reason i got mine basically was because the car is sweet! i mean if you look at it like this....leather, power everything, definatley not slow, all wheel drive, low cost, the scarcity of them (after i got it i noticed about 5) but 5 is nothing, just the whole idea of the car i think...i dunno, i love it though, the noise from the brakes however i can live without

I've fantasized about owning one of these cars ever since I saw one(about 6 years ago). I bought it for it's looks, rarity, awd, and abs, but most of all, to impress the sh*t out of people. To be honest, I never thought I'd end up owning one, as I had no idea they came out in 92 and could be bought for a reasonable price. I thought the SVX was a late model car made only a couple years in a row. I figured around 95, 96 ish. After deciding to sell my high milage honda, I searched for vehicles in the paper. I remeber seeing a listing for 92 SVX in my price range and freaked.

Love at first byte

My commute to work is up to two hours and a billion gearchanges. Most cars here are manual as was my last Camry. So I wanted an auto before my left leg siezed or threw a piston.

Always loved the SVX, but had never seen one or sat in one or driven one. So naturally when I saw one on a Japanese website, what could I do, but buy it and import it?

Going on two years, I still love it. Handling and body control exemplary. Speed and acceleration OK unless you are used to motorbikes.

It growls at me[bearings], but so does my German Pointer. Constant tranny problems, but everything else is so tight and well built. I am planning on a 96/97 model next, but I have at least two year's good driving in the current one, probably more, the next guy after me will get a bargain.

That last remark is not meant to be sexist, women do not buy 3.3 litre cars here, Road Tax is crippling.

Joe

The Reason

The reason I bought an SVX is because...wait a minute, I don't own an SVX. Someday! I was passionate about my OBS so I bought it. I was passionate about my XT6 and I bought it. The SVX is next. I can not shake it off. The car is beautiful.

Face it, we all bought this car for it's 'face' value, all of it's other good points are just perks...

She told me it was because you were so swayve and deboner, you silver-tongued devil. That and I think she bought the part about you being a secret, double-naught spy. Yeah, that's it, and since the SVX looks like a 007 car, it must have been the clincher...

p.s. does she have a sister?

saw the first one at the dealer in 1992, white pearlie. That became the dream vehicle. Started with Subaru with an 84 turbo coupe, neat little car, followed by 3 Legacy wagons, then 2 black/liquid silver
bullets. Too much fun!......

After much deliberating, my wife decided that the '95 Lecacy saloon of ours was a little too small and too old. The local Subaru dealer was advertising a nice '98 Legacy estate so I was sent to check it out.

On arrival, the salesman was busy showing the car to someone else so I had a walk around the lot, looking at the other cars. Tucked into a corner I saw a strange shape, curiosity got the better of me and I walked over.

Oooh its one of those SVX thingys, with those funny windows, and the nice wheels, and the shiny roof, and the door is unlocked, ...UNLOCKED!!!!! maybe I can sneak a look while the salesman is busy. Oooh those leather seats, and the suede trim, and the digital A/C and the..... can I help you sir?

I turned around with the look of a startled rabbit. "I was only looking, I didn't touch anything, honest I......"

"I am a little busy at the moment sir, here are the keys just take it for a drive, I should be free in about 1/2 an hour"

One black eye and a near divorce later an I am the proud owner of a '93 Liquid Silver SVX.

Andy
