Hate

I just spent the whole morning sawing a windshield out of an SVX and at the last 2 inches it shattered.

I know the feeling all to well...

my "buddy" was helping me cut one out and I specifically said dont tilt the knife back or you will crack the glass....on the last couple swoops across the top sho nuff....

I was like.."hey man..you just cost me $1200 bux!" ...."sorry" he replied and blew it off like it was nothing.

That sucks. In the first 2 inches it wouldn't hurt as much.

Re: Hate

I've been checking this yard regularly for some time waiting for an SVX to show up, then I went for an armrest for my Outback and voila there it is. This is why it bothers me so much, what a waste At least next time I will know just how to do it.

Re: Hate

I was talking to a friend of mine back home, owner of a black SVX... he was telling me that he had his car repainted and that he removed the front and back windshields...

He mentioned something about squeezing a small steel cord in between the edge of the glass and frame. Then he slowly passed that cord all along the windshield until it was free...

Maybe you guys should try this technique next time...

Re: Hate

That was the method used, It isn't so easy though. That glue is hard to get through especially if your arms aren't 5ft. long

Re: Hate

Problem is, its difficult to find a piano in the scrap yard

I have pulled more than a couple out of yard cars... Throttle cable with a pair of vice grips on each end with one person on each side works wonders
