Re: Svx parts

Alex

For parts from the US you need look no further than one of our own members, Jackie Whetzler, who works for Annapolis Subaru in Maryland.

I can recommend this girl to you for any SVX parts you need because she has never let me down and the price is right. Her name on the boards here is SubaruPartsGirl. See this thread for her contact details:

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ight=annapolis

She may turn out to be some pennies or a couple of dollars more expensive than the purely internet companies like Subaruparts.com, but the difference is in personal attention to your needs. The girl is good at her job and will find your part if it can be got, and will ship promptly at a reasonable rate.

If I say any more it will begin to sound like I'm on commission at least or that we have a thing goin' on, but I can only reiterate, Jackie is da bizness!

If you want to try Germany this company has some SVX parts available. Personally I find German Subaru parts prices sky high, but that's probably because I'm more used to American rates.

Du er meget velkommen Alex.

I'm pleased you got sorted. Did you buy from Jackie in the US? She is very helpful.

Re: Svx parts

IMPORTANT

We have a parts list included in the How-to Documents above, so please refer to this if you are looking for parts numbers. Most of the USA parts numbers are the same as ours, just steer clear of anything that says FWD, that means front wheel drive and does not apply to our machines.

If you are ordering a part from abroad make sure you give them your VIN number or chassis number if you prefer to call it that. This will allow them to check if the part is correct for your vehicle.

There is also a very well structured website at http://www.svx-iw.com/

The parts lists are on there also, plus a list of contact details in the LINKS section. Browse through it, you will find it very worth your while.

Re: Svx parts

Would the VIN number be of use for JDM car parts ordered from the U.S.A. I'm about to buy a left and right hand side Tie Rod assembly, boot and Tie Rod end and have done a check this time to see if it changes over the models year I think I'll get a set of stabilizer bushes and brackets for both sides as well do you think it wise to buy any other parts just in case?

I think it's no harm to give them the VIN number anyway, then the onus is on them to ensure the part is correct.

In the case of the US if the number does not tally with what's on their system it should be relatively easy for them to bounce the number to Fuji Japan and ask if the part number is correct.

That's what happens here in Ireland. If their system has enough info to verify the number they supply you the part. If it comes up blank, they check Japan.

Regards getting extra spares, I personally would not bother ordering parts that had not failed until they were needed. You may find that you would need to replace all the rubber vacuum tubes under the intake first, before the suspension parts, what with your low mileage. The rubber hoses get brittle with age and heat, and if any of them leak it will give you poor running symptoms.

That's just my personal opinion. Don't let me put you off buying spares, I'm a belt and braces man myself.

Joe

Re: Svx parts

Thank you again for your help and I hope I'm not hijacking this thread and apologise if I have. With regards to the parts I have listed, the mechanic I use does my MOT's as well and have used him for over 10 years as he has a policy of only doing whats required to do the job properly so to a certain extent I completely trust his judgement. I did phone him today to confirm the points he raised so the stabilizer stuff is something he thought would be wise. I'll have a good look at the vacuum hoses now though.

Reject your email address? Did you try to email the site? Rather than email Jackie direct at the email address on the link above?

I would either ring and ask for Jackie, the personal approach always works best, or email her direct, explain you are a Network member needing parts.

I would avoid sending direct to the site anyway. In most cases dealer emails are manned by Sales. If you are not 5 miles away and buying a new car, they don't want to know.
