Speedometre stopped working

So I was driving home from work and the speedometre waved up and down for a second then dropped to zero. Cruise control doesn't work either. No idea what caused it. This something I can fix myself, you think?

Re: Speedometre stopped working

couple things...

-Check to make sure the connections at the sensor are good

If yes...

- Remove the sensor, fit the drive shaft for the sensor into the end of an electric drill. With the key turned ON but the engine not running, run the drill slowly at first w/ someone watching the dash.

If the speedo works, you have drive problems inside the front differential. This means serious work to fix it

If the speedo doesn't work, it is likely just a bad sensor and a new one will fix the problem.

It is on the right side of the transmission bell housing (pass side) aside the front differential dip-stick. It has a 3 wire clip going to it
