Don't forget the McLaren F1 is a street legal car as well with 627 bhp
Lamborghini Diablos, also only had about 2 models under the 500 HP mark, the next 14 Diablo variants went from 510hp to 700hp

The Saleen S7 has been out far longer than any of those US cars. I believe the first S7 was in production in like '99 or so. The S7 is not a new car, its been around a while.

The first US made full production mid-engined supercar was the Vector W8 in 1992. Unfortunatly Vector was bought by an Indonesian company in 1993 and ran into bankruptcy.
