congrats, new owner.
i may be able to give some idea what's going wrong on the driverside door? it happened the same thing to me when the first day(6mths ago) i bought my SVX. i didn't know if the seller lied to me or it just broke on that day. when i drove it home, how could i sleep on that day?

my problem was the actuator. the driverside door couldn't be locked - no power lock then. hear say was $170 for a new one found an used one - $60 - put it in. Got back my power door locks and passive alarm. Got a keyless remote later - everything works great till now - haven't got stuck in the winter. to temporarily get your door locked, maybe you need to remove your old actuator. that's how i did before i found the used actuator unit.

hope it helps if you have the same prob- enjoy driving.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that. You handled it with panache, as usual.

my door now works again after spending time at the mechanic. after putting in the new speedo, it still doesn't work. now they are telling me that they have to take the trans apart to get to the problem....anyone know an easier way??

I think I'd be looking for a second opinion.

hey beav, sorry about the gender confusion...i was lost in myself... i told the mechanic what you said (the quick course on electric speedos) he asked me to ask you "what drives the speed sensor itself? gear off the torque convertor or the ring gear that the starter drives?" i have no idea what that means, so humor me. he also asked if anyone here has pictures or what ever of the equipment. you guys have been a great help so far.. i really am greatful for it.

Kelli,
Beav will probably get to this before I can get the scans, but, I plan on scanning the speedo stuff for someone else as soon as I can get to it.

If he hasn't come through by then, I'll post the scans.

G'luck!

Thanks Kelli. We appreciate it. And, at the risk of sounding "sexist," it's nice to have a lady 'round the house.

you are at no risk of sounding sexist am i the only girl on this site? i know three people in my area that have the svx and they are all guys. the funny part about that is that i know more about cars then they do, even though it doesn't sound like i do.
thanks again for the help

Kelli - As you are a New Joiseyite, have you considered dropping in on the Reading, PA meet on April 6 & 7? You won't be the lone female there, I assure you.
Ron.

That's a Friday & Saturday. Go to Forums - Upcoming meets - Reading Iii, & enjoy the verbal build-up to this annual event. I think we have over 30 SVX nuts so far.
Ron.
