What kind of brake pads do you like?

My breaks stop OK but they have the "hey replace me soon" squeel. So I think as soon as I get back from the Auto Cross this weekend I am going to yank off my tires and put on some new pads. I am just looking for good reliable long lasting pads. I am weilling to pay a little more for a good brand, but I am not looking for anything fancy. Thanks in advance for all your thoughtful advice.

Best thing to do is search the subject. Several companies come up like KVR, EBC, Axxis...

Pads

Hi Jason, I replaced my brakes a few years back and used Akebono ceramic pads. So far I'm pleased with them. Take care, BOBB

The Semi-metalics I bought from Raceconcepts work very well but turn your wheels black. Otherwise I think I'll stepup to ceramic next. Oh and with either setup make sure to use a little more force when cold, but when hot they close up hard.

You can also find a selection on tirerack.com (shipping is fast, and the prices are reasonable)

Significant Technical Input
My fav for the past several years (and I do a lot of brakes) is the Wagner ThermoQuiet pads. Low dust, dead silent, good stopping. PN# PD554 frt, PD 471 rear and available at most local parts stores.

i got mine off ebay for 40 dollars including shipping. they're lomandi kevlar/semi-metallics and i also got drilled/slotted rotors off ebay for 110 including shipping. best 150 bucks i've spent in awhile. be careful it will try to throw you through the windshield, so buckle up. Jason
