Guys
I know a lot of you have told me the clip is the issue. This is my problem: The pass. side window does not go down. There is power to the motor. The wire that pulls up/down the window is tight and would like to move but the window itself does not move.

What do I do? How do I fix it? Where is the clip at?

Lwin

Lwin, I'm not sure where the clip is, but, if you go to the "how to" locker, you'll find a link to my Yahoo Briefcase. In my briefcase is a diagram of the window internals. Check it out.

The dreaded clip

If your 'clip' is busted, the traveling wire will move but the window will not move properly. I figure this clip thing is a sort of mechanical fuse that would give way rather than damage the window or other components in a lock up situation. Unfortunately, it just wears out after high useage (mine was no doubt cratered by daily fast food drive up useage).

If the clip goes, you may have to tape your window up as I did. Please use clear packing tape as it looks better to those admiring your car.

Mine broke just before Autofest. As I recall, I wasn't totally put off by the repair cost, but I don't remember what it was.

I just checked (it's raining). Wife seems to have moved the paperwork from the glove box. Can't help ya with the price.

The wire is not moving in my case but the motor is running. What could be the problem?

Clip Problems

I had provided a response to your questions but my browser timed out before I could complete and lost it all. Will write tomorrow, must get up early tomorrow to provide income for my automotive 'pets'.

Trying again...

Faster this time...

After you remove the door panel and the plastic waterproofing sheet stuck to the door with tar (ick) you will see the rail that the window rides up and down on. The regulator assembly rides on the rail and contains the clip. If the clip is not broken you should be able to see a bead attached to the traveling wire secured in the middle of this regulator assembly. The window assembly rides on this bead and after enough stress the clip will break.

I have heard that subaruparts.com sells the clips for a pittance. Most dealers will want to sell you the window lift assembly for around $200 bucks. Installation of this entire assembly is a pain. You will need an impact driver to remove screws from the window motor

Yeah, and mine broke during Autofest. Must have been catching.

The clip itself is about $14.25 or so, and a shop will probably charge you and hour or hour & 1/2 of time, if you have them do it.

CLIP Part number

Just talked to Scott at subaruparts.com about the infamous window clip, which breaks and is attached to the regulator assembly. He is not aware of this clip being available as a separate part.

However my next post shows that assumption to be false.

Try this one:

62101PA081

I didn't get this part from subaruparts.com, but from my Suby dealer.

GREAT PART NUMBER!!

62101PA081 is a sleeve lock regulator.
It is a redesign of the clip and is found starting with the 94 SVXs. Scott says it will clip onto the place where the 92-93 window clip used to be.

Evidently there was a problem with this clip and so Subaru decided to offer this as a replaceable part starting in '94.

Check here: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=601-1

Cost of the part is $7.58 from subaruparts.com and about $10.00 from your dealer.
