Cool On bad arse XT...

At the '04 Cannon Ball One Lap competition it came third in the SUV/ Truck class behind a Ram SRT-10 and a modded Ram 1500.

Some results the car posted in temperatures that sometimes soared above 100 were:

1/4 mile 13.480
Skid pad 0.937g's

Dollar for dollar the FXT is faster but a LGT could easily be made to whip on a FXT while still not spending a whole lot more cash. It all depends how much you are willing to spend. Bench racing is funny.

if i wanted to be a boy racer, i would have went with the STi. i'm glad i didn't. the initial grins would probably turn to groans after spending time sitting in traffic and hitting potholes. the LGT is plenty fast - i don't even know if i need to go past the stage 1 (yeah, probably will ). it has a lot of nice features. chose the LGT over FXT because of the 5EAT Sportshift, nicer interior/ nicer wheels (IMHO), don't need all the cargo space, and i just generally don't like the sport-ute look.

if i had kids, or hauled a bunch of stuff around, the FXT would no doubt be the one i chose. its a ridiculous value for what you get.

I love driving the FXT, but I couldn't replace the svx with it. It's the wife's car, it makes sense to have it with the cargo and baby room and she won't drive a wagon. (don't tell her it is a jacked up wagon - she still thinks it's an suv)

I agree 100%. That's why I want to wait until I can afford to get one as my second car.

Buying a house and my wife wanting to get a Mitsu Endeavor will push things back a little though...

That's a decent time, but I saw that thread and the guy owns a 5MT. There's a thread in the general section talking about how much slower an auto is compared to an 5MT. The going concensus is roughly 1 second:

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11701

Also, the best time I've seen in the 1/4 mile for a stock 5MT 2.5GT sedan is 13.9 that was done by two members. 5MT FXTs have gone 13.8 seconds bone stock.

Funny, I was thinking that the other day when I saw a 2.5GT parked next to a Camry SE. When the 2.5GT has the optional spoiler, the resemblance is even more striking...

all the better to be a sleeper. the lights aren't very distinctive, but they do look nice IRL. i was comparing the 5MT LGT, because that's what examples of FXT you use. i'm not saying *i* will be getting those times, because i won't be drag racing it. with a stage 2, 310hp and 340 ft-lbs will be plenty fast with the 5EAT for my purposes. imagine a lighter SVX with 4.11 gears and that kinda power. i can use teh Sportshift if i feel like shifting myself, and i can go auto while sitting in the tunnels on the way to work in traffic.

if i wanted to go balls-out mad acceleration from redlight to redlight, i would have bought the STi. i figure most of my driving is city, so a 6-speed, no sound deadening, and super stiff suspension would get annoying.
