Making a FWD an AWD
Just a thought.
Today I had the car up on the lift while the tranny cooler was being instaled and was just kind of walking around under her checking every thing out when it dawned on me how cool would it be to take my 94 LS FWD and make it a 94 LS AWD. ummmmm. All I could see that I would need is new rear hubs, rear diff, axles, and a drive shaft. Oh yeah and a tranny but what the hell I'll just do the 5-Speed at the same time yeah thats what she need. Now how do I fix the lotto so I finally win and do all these mods. Can it really be done the mods that is. (well if you know about the lotto thing.LOL) Later Chris |

You'll also need the rear diff carrier, as the SVX has it's own unique one, but they shouldn't be to hard to come by, even a really badly wrecked one that is one part that hardly ever getts damaged.
All the holes are allready there, as all the SVXs was originally AWD, so every thing should just bolt in(at least with an AWD auto tranny ) If you go with the 5-speed, a early Legacy driveshaft should be easier to find, and will work since you have to get the front half legthened anyway. Good Luck

Chris,
Do what I am doing. Sell the FWD and get an AWD. Much cheaper that way I think. Lwin

i agree with seraphim
unless you are doing a 5-speed conversion i would not do the conversion. too much money and labor involved.
i personally like it that my svx is fwd. it feels quick and i dont have to worry about any differential problems.
