Sorry for not seeing this thread earlier,
I have an RPS 405ft/lb street kit full faced. It works great. 5 k or so on it, and it works as good as the day i put it in, not too bad on the pedal pressure(way worse then stock but much smoother then the ACT unit i had in before) I paid 317 for it, so it was cheap AND is the highest clamping full faced ive found. phil

As for the clutch being one from that shop in NC, I had a feeling this might be the case. Unless Huck had it adjusted way wrong , which I doubt is the case, it should never have worn out so quickly. I would say that the place should be avoided in spite of how cheap his price is. I would go so far as to say I'd be better off with an OEM clutch and just not abusing it than to go with his work again. I have not driven a stock Subaru with an MT but I doubt that the pedal pressure is much less than this. It takes no more force to depress the clutch pedal than in any other stick I have owned or driven. No offense to Chris (GreenMarineSVX), but I think I'll pass on this guys work and would not recommend it to anyone. Johnny

In Chris' defense, it seems that the clutch worked pretty well inititally. Chris eventually had the same problems with his clutch that you are having with yours. Its good that the long term (lack of) performance of that clutch is being noted.

I am not a fan of shop-built kevlar clutches... they all seem to chatter sooner or later. The takeup on Chris's clutch was unbelievably short even when we first put it in.
I prefer an engineered solution, even if it costs a few bucks more. |
