Got a ride in an '04 STI today... - Page 2

just finished the first half of a road trip with my 05 2.5gt ltd. i have to say it is an awesome highway car. as for mychailo's comment, i'd have to agree. the handling is not "confidence inspiring" at speeds in the triple digits. i think there will some mods to it in the future.

i'll be going the STi route - gotta love the Brembos and handling. the Legacy GT is a nice car - there's a lot to like, but i COULD NOT live with the factory - no aux input radio. yeah, sounds stupid, but that's kinda important to me.

to drive an '05 STi?

the other day i talked my mom into trying out an '05 Legacy 2.5GT and while we were there i saw the STi and just had to try it out. im still speechless about the entire experience

. Also got to drive the 2.5GT Limited while we were there, that was really nice. I think i would have to agree about the suspension comment, the car performs wonderful, but the ride isnt quite what i expected.

We were dead set on a legacy GT until we drove a couple.
Power was good, but the lean in corners was real bad.
After a drive in the forester (it was fastAr) we were sold on it instead.
The legacy is a great car but it just wasn't fast enough. I am actually quite surprised to see they are pulling high 13's stock. Must be the stick. The auto felt slow.

I drove my college friend's '03 Blue-by-U Evo VIII when it was stock and the handling was impressive. However, I'm 27 married w/ two kids and I really don't like all the juvenile attention driving a car like that attracts.

Hence I was attracted to the Volvo S60R, Mercedes C32 AMG, MazdaSpeed 6 and Legacy 2.5GT.

For the money, the Legacy is an awesome deal! Should I get one, my first mods won't be for power, but a short-throw shifter, sway bars and stiffer urethane bushings.

There's also another owner who posts on NABISCO that had a vid of his 13.9 sec pass. However, most owners run 14.1-14.4 bone-stock in a 5MT...

I'm just really falling in love with Subarus - and the new Legacy is damn sexy looking!

bounced the news that i "may be getting an STi" off the wife last night. it didn't go over too well - she doesn't like sticks, and if she ever has to drive it......

i will keep on fightin'!
