WTF!!! Climate control and clock trouble

Hey guys,

well, today, while we were installing my new Sony Deck, all the sudden, the Climate Control and Clock no longer are working. The lights don't come on, and the Climate Control won't respond to any button pushing. It's not showing up at all. what could be wrong????

Plug the wires back in to where they are supposed to go.
If they still don't work get em tested.

My deck install left me without a power antennea, but that's because there was no wiring harness available.

It'd do you good to find a wiring harness if you haven't already.

I've got the CD player plugged in now and all of the wires associated with it. I don't know why the clock and climate control just went out all the sudden, I checked the fuses for the A/C and the clock, both were still good.. HELP!!!

Something must have popped or ripped out. There's a lot of wires down there and not much space.
Is the car running or just turned to accessory?

the car is running, I don't think i could have cut one of the wires to it, as I didn't even touch the wires that go to the Climate Control or the clock.

If all the wires are intact then you likely have a short. We'll need some electrical diagrams and insight to the system you have installed to progress any further.
How much power are you pulling out (amperage), and did you noticed anything odd?
Did you unplug the battery?

Nope, I didn't unplug the battery, All that happened was we had just cut the wiring plug for the factory CD player, when I looked up at the clock and Climate control later, I noticed it wasn't working........

This issue is really beyond anything I can do for you, but if you want the best advice I can give, don't get a neon underbody kit.

Oh, and try to unplug the battery when installing or uninstalling electrical components.

Be prepared to pay over $80 for an hour of diagnostic labor.
See if you can find somewhere, preferrably an electrical specialist with a good history.

In the meantime, if you need something to do, you can pull of the face and see if any of the bulbs are popped.

Make sure to check all your other lighted instruments as well.

Yeah, I can't afford that $80 an hour, I think i'm just going to pull the climate control unit and clock out myself this morning, see if I can find it myself, hopefully, it will just be a loose wire or something of that sort........

Hope I'm not to late

This happened to me last summer. Turns out it was the fuse for the cigarette lighter. Don't ask me why, but that is the fuse that was blown.

My advice, check every fuse before you take it anywhere.

Re: Hope I'm not to late

That's definietly a good idea since the battery wasn't unplugged when you were initially doing the install.

ya, clipping the whole harness with power through the system with metal clippers would connect the wires in the harness and allow something to short wouldn't they?
