Question Seattle area meet?

I see over the last couple months there have been quite a few new members from around the Puget Sound area. Most seem to join, post one or twice, and then disappear, but if anyone from the area checks to read these......

A meet somewhere in the Seattle area would be cool some time. There are two of us that get together once in a while and the other guy has some phone numbers of a few SVXers he might be able to round up as well. So there could be a chance we could get a sizeable and worthwhile meet planned if we all coordinated with each other.

Any interest?

woulda, coulda

I tried many times on the yahoo side to get together with other Puget sound memebers and failed. Sometimes wish I was still up there. If I end up making a trip up there for job interviews and such, I will drop you a line. I still have many friends up there.

Northwest meet

Hi,
I would be interested in meeting others in our area. I'd have to travel on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday since I live on Anderson Island and the last ferry is 6:00 Monday-Thursday. My SVX may not be able to come as it only has first and second gears until I get the parts to put in a five speed. I may go to Canada to pick up the stuff this weekend. I'd be driving the Vanagon VX otherwise, you all might find it interesting.

Unhappy NW Meet?

Well, It's a thought. Been thought of before. My main concern is the pass. It'll probably snow soon, but what the heck...I have AWD.

The last meet I attended was a year ago. It was COLD.

Let me know. I'll see what I can do......

Hopefully nobody will be sick

Sounds good Chris. Hopefully I wouldn't get sick that week like when Chad was over here. The guy I meet with sometimes and several others from Yahoo organized a meet in Seattle last February, I think 6 or 7 cars were there! Don't know if you still lived here at that time or not.

Definitely! Either the Vanagon VX or a 5 speed SVX would be great to check out. I'm sure if we got anything decent planned it would be a weekend so no worries there. Anderson Island? I think a friend's relative owns a little cabin there - real small island near Tacoma, accessible only by ferry, not many resisdents, tons of deer?

i cant tell you how jealous i am.....

that you guys have some many svx's in your state. i think the northwest is like subaru headquarter's or something.

in memphis i may have counted maybe six or seven. unfortunately most of the people are just not active in the svx community or dont care enough about the car to get active.

Must be the weather....

Although on this side of the state we don't exactly get tons of snow, but we do get the infamous RAIN! That combined with the demographics of a large majority in this area makes for a ton of Subarus. They've been very popular here for the last couple decades and in the midst of that when the SVX came along they probably sold quite a few here.

Unfortunately, we share the same fate as most of the country in that there doesn't seem to be a huge interest in getting together with owners or clubs like this, etc. We'll see though!

In fact, if we think about it, has there really been any fairly large "successful" meet outside of a 300 mile or so radius of where Randy lives?

seattle area meet

The '94 Ebony Pearl LSi likes to come out to play on nice days. If somebody sets a date, we might show up.

We use to be Miata clubbers (hence the old "redroadster" handle) and that club has many tours, rallies and something they call "drive & dinner". One member plans out a starting point where all the cars meet, a driving route (with emphasis on twisty turns, scenery and exposure to the general public for showin' off purposes; nothing like a line up of great single-marque cars to impress) and a destination restaurant at the end of the drive (pizza is usually good enuff). Pretty good fun. With that club, we ran Vashon Island, the backroads of Snohomish County, Whidbey Island and others.

We'll be watching to see if a meet date is set!

Troy,
By gum, you know the Island pretty well. The deer are a pest and really make you try to stay in the speed limit for fear of becoming a roadkill victim. Be a great spot for a meet in the summer, great swimming, waterskiing, etc.

Sounds great! That is just the type of thing I'd love to do if enough people were interested. Keep watching the boards and hopefully at some point in the near future there may be a date!

If you get close, let me know if you want help with planning a date, start, route or destination.

I will do that. I'm not a big "take charge" kind of guy, but I think it would be cool to get some more stuff going around this area with such a unique car. So if I can muster up enough interest, your experience would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to get in touch with a friend who has met several SVXers around here, see what he can do on his end, etc. I'll keep updating here.
