Sad Time
Hey guys, I have some really sad news. On my way back to the base from home, CT-NJ...my power steering went out on me, I figured it was just a hose or possibly a belt, but it turns out that it was the rack that went. 900 bucks to replace. With that going, the rear diff starting to go, and my rear wheel bearings starting to act up, just doesnt make sense for me to drop all that cash into it, with the possibility of the tranny going in the future costing even more.
I've owned the car for 2 years, bought it my junior year for 3500. Little did I know the tranny would go 3 weeks later, and numerous other repairs. Then to find out the odometer was rolled back about 125k-150k miles. Other than all that has gone wrong with the car it has been an amazing run. Considering all it's been through I'm surpised it's made it this long. Who knows what the PO put her through. Now with all that said, I'm now in the market for something newer with low mileage. Something economical that will last without constant fear of failure at the slightest tick, ding, or other strange noise. I'm hoping to be able to get something out of it in terms of a trade in. I ordered rotors before all this happened, so they're not even on the car yet. Those may be on sale in the near future. I'll be joining the prior owners club soon I think, depending on when I can get home to look around for something new. I'm really sad about all of this, but good things never last forever. I'll be sure to post just like Kelli, just because I dont have one doesnt mean it's not with me in spirit! Anyway, I should get going, but I'll be back soon!

Either way, it's alot of money. That and the rear end issues is well over 2 grand. That's a down payment right there. The fact is basically this, you get one of two things. An SVX that was well cared for by the previous owner, or an SVX that was treated like crap and has been through hell and back. I pretty much got the latter, and tried to make the best out of it for two years.
It's just not economical anymore now that I'm stationed away from home, and in order to get there I have to drive a good distance. Driving something that isnt very reliable isn't exactly the best thing, this is why I've decided to hang up my SVX keychain and move onto other things. Other things may not be as luxurious and fun to drive, and they may not draw the attention that the SVX did, but the repair bills will be cut down quite a bit, and with my budget that's what I have to do.

Don't do it! But if you must at least buy a nice Legacy or Imprezza OK.
