HD
Hi everyone, Seems to be a little interest in HD. The biggest problem I see is that most of our fellow Americans don't have a clue about whats going to happen in 2006 when the stations that are broadcasting the NTSC signal will have to give back the frequencies that those channels now broadcast on. Your TIVO or Replay will not work on HD. Both Dish and Direct TV have satelite recievers with a hard drive recorder built in so you can time shift as you did with NTSC. On the 921 reciever from Dish you can watch one channel and record another etc and it has a plug that you can record to a HD vcr. And Manofmayo you saw with your own eyes the video version of garbage in, garbage out. Take care, BOBB

licensed TV stations were required to start broadcasting ATSC in may of 2003. A lot of stations missed the deadline and now there are programs to help smaller stations buy the equipment necessary to broadcast ATSC. They need cameras for local news, new editing equipment, new broadcast towers, etc. The FCC is very anxious to get back the VHF/UHF bandwidth that they have been letting TV use for close to free so they can re-license it to private communication carriers for 100's of millions of dollars. Crossover
Hi Doug, Some guys say all your electronic stuff will end up in one box and one display. I think you will see some of this kind of thing, but it has to make sense in order for it to become popular. Oh yeah, WHAT A GEEK! Take care, BOBB

Good Lawd! How did we ever survive yoot' with a knob that had 13 channels that sometimes worked on 4 of 'em, for maybe 8 hours a day? Now I remember.....We went outside & played touch football, Cowboys 'n Indians, climbed trees & skipped flat rocks on the pond. Sigh.....Ron.

Back to the thread
Hi everyone, Contrary to somr previous posts I find standard defination {SD} on a HD monitor to be at least as good , or better, as the pictures I recieved on a similar sized SD set of equal qoality. This, I find to be true on broadcast and satilite. Take care, BOBB
P/S Harry, Glad to see your interest in smart ladies. These, of course, are the only kind we have on this site. "B" |

480p
Hi Nick, 480p is considered SD in the digital format. The advantage in 480p is the fact that the whole picture is presented on the screen at once, instead of scanning the odd and then the even lines. Or it might be even and then odd.. This iliminates artifacts, so you get a cleaner sharper picture. Take care, BOBB
