Call for topics
I have been reading a thread on fuel pressure that I find interesting. I'd like to suggest a set of topics for discussion in the technical forum and see if anybody a) seconds, b) rejects, or c) adds on.
There are so many people with such a store of knowledge here....I love this place. Anyway here's a short list off the top of my head: Suspension: Affect of cast & camber on handling Affect of increasing/decreasing sway bar size, front/rear Transmission: What the various stall speeds in a torque converter mean and why should I care Level Ten claims for increasing ATF flow thru the valve body...if it's so good, why didn't the factory do it, i.e., what are the down sides Engine: Effect of removal of harmonic balancer - primary & secondary balance (and any others) in a flat-six |

Hi Lee, LarryIII posted recently that starting with model year 1994 SVXs, the fluid flow was increased in the transmission to improve cooling.Take care, BOBB

Lee & BOBB,
I think that it was the '96 model year that they drilled out the oricifice hole in the hydrovalve by 1/16". In '94 they replaced the radiator so they did not have the wire mesh in the ATF cooling tube in the cooler.

Thats a good idea Lee, I don't mind writing on anything automotive, just a lot of the time it's better for me to answer questions, as I might get a bit long winded, on my own.
Having taught Automotive, I know the range of auto knowledge that this board's readers have and try to write accordingly. But the missing link is the feedback that you rely on to access understanding. I don't know if it is understood or not, if people asked questions about the bit they don't understand, I could explane that better, or expand on any point, if some one needs to know more. Hard to decide, don't want to bore anyone. Having said that, I don't have practical experience in working on this car, due to the one arm sitution, so I rely on the experences of the WORKERS to provide the practical side. I'll go along with anything you work out. Harvey. p.s Know nothing about air conditioning.

OK, so I'll ask the first one. Can you explain how sway bars affect under-over steer. I'm probably wrong, but for some reason I think a softer rear bar (or stronger front bar) helps reduce understeer. I understand mechanically how a sway bar puts force against a wheel when flexed under cornering loads. I also know what understeer and oversteer are in terms of plowing or rear-end hanging out. But I'm missing some serious connection information because I can't translate changes in one to effect on the other. |

You might like this site lee. It has a section on sway bars, or more correctly anti-sway bars/anti-roll bars.
