Lightbulb Did you know this???

The drag coeffecent of our cars is what 0.29cd??? Something like that right?? Well check this out!!!! The Chrysler "four twelve" concept has a worse drag coeffecent than our cars!!!! Hehehe, 12 years and the rest of the world can only hope to make cars as good as the SVX

Look here for that Chrysler Concept.... http://www.supercars.net/cars/2004@$Chrysler@$ME%20Four-Twelve%20Conceptg.html

Actually there are quite a few cars with similar or better drag coefficients available today. Even the new Legacy sedan has a .28 cD I believe. For its time, though, the SVX's cD was as good as it got.

The Subaru XT series that started in 1986 also had a .29 cD.

Gotta love those Soobs

"the ME Four-Twelve goes from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-100 mph in 6.2 seconds and it will blister through the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 142.0 mph."

ummm i'll take that one
i highly doubt the legacy has anywhere close to a .29, but plus, our cars have a .28 says... can't find the website, but anyway, yeah the XT has a .29, and most cars today are around a .36... hell the porsche 944turbo was a .36 i believe...

this topic was discussed before. the svx is .28 without the spolier and .29 with. the xt was .29 standing still and .01 at 135.

Actually, the 2000-2004 model Legacy has a .31 cD which is quite close. And I was correct about the new Legacy:

Coefficient of drag (Cd): Sedan: 0.28 / Wagon: 0.30

From 2005 Legacy 2.5GT Specs

There are a lot of cars today with lower coefficients of drag than that. The Acura TL and the Honda Accord have .29, the Toyota Camry has a .28, the Infiniti G35 boasts a .27 (.26 with their Aero Package), and the Lexus LS has .25, just to name a few.

Significant Technical Input
Remedial Math?

Gotta wonder about those specs - 650.84 hp/weight? At 2879# that would yield 1,872,501.6 HP.

Obviously if you make Neons you can't trust yourself to make your own high end engines. On second thought, does Chrysler make/design any of their own engines?

(Sorry Rob, I couldn't resist. ;-)

Actually most exotics don't have exceptionally good coefficients of drag- but they do tend to have small frontal areas which can negate the impact of a higher coefficient of drag.

Acura NSX: .30
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish: .31
Chevrolet Corvette C6: .28
Ferrari Enzo: .36
Ferrari F40: .34
Ferrari F50: .37
Jaguar XJ220: .36
Lamborghini Diablo: .31
Lamborghini Murcielago: .33
Mclaren F1: .32
Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren: .37
Porsche 959: .31
Porsche Carrera GT: .39

And, just for grins:
Hummer H2: .57

WOW!! There are some cars there that I would have thought to have a VERY low Cd......

I can't believe that our SVX's are more aerodynamicly advanced than most of those cars on that list!!! Hehehe....

most of the cars on that list also need a lot of downforce, which raises the cD i believe...
