Anyone else despise Manheim Steamroller music?

YEECCCHHHH!!!! Its all early 90s late 80s synthesized CRAP. I cannot believe people actually listen to it. In fact, I can think of a number of VIDEO GAMES that had music that sounded better.

YECH.

Maybe it has some mind control thing in the music backwards, who knows.

Me

I actually have 3 of their CD's.

Agreed.. some of it is bad... just like any CD, some songs are not worth playing. But much of their music is (in my opinion) good.

The only problem is that the songs that do get played on the air (Mostly christmas music) is the stuff that has too much synthesized music. In my opinion the music that sticks closer to the real classical style (violins, piano, horns, etc) is the good stuff. A good example is the Yellowstone CD (released in 1989) It is pretty much void of the synthesized music. So is the Romance CD (Released in 1992). Granted, that was the last Manheim Steamroller CD that I bought. I am not sure what the newer music sounds like that has been released since 92.

Will have to look for that one.

Another good one is the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Nice little rock influence.

I'm not being a grinch, I'm currently enjoying classic Xmas songs from the 30s, 40s, and 50s.... you know... TALENTED musicians, not a bunch of geeks with some crappy synthesizers.

Classics...

Our family enjoys the classic christmas music too. White Christmas is probably my favorite. Heck, we even have the movie and will sit down with the kids at least once every season to watch it with them.

Rob, I have to ask. Is the only Manheim Stamroller music you have heard the Christmas music?

Whilew we are talking music...Anyone else out there ever listen to Gorecki?

Chris.

I'm sorry guys, but I'm totally with Rob on this one. I also am not really into the Christmas holiday that much, and i believe the two go hand in hand...

Mike

PS- The only Manheim Steamroller music I've heard is Christmas music. So I can only speak for that much of it.

Its OK mike.. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. Ive said it before... I respect everyones opinion. I might not agree wiht it, but I do respect it. I am sure there is music that you and rob like that I wouldnt...and there might be some that I do like.

Just so people know I listen to both kinds of music.. Country and Western

Seriously. I listen to a wide range of music. Punk, Jazz, Classical, Country, Metal, Rap, Techno, etc... Just whatever I feel like listening to at that moment is what comes out of the speakers.

Chris

Merry Christmas, Rob
One of the interesting things about the holidays is listening to the various "interpretations" of classic holiday songs by various artists of differing musical "bents".

When I first read Rob's post, I thought to h*ll with him......

then I thought about it some more....and realized that I only like Mannheim Steamrollers original stuff. the stuff recorded before 1990. I have Fresh Aire 1-5 on LP and 1-7 & X-mas 1 on CD....those I like. The new stuff sounded just like all the other electronic music out there.....nothing really new.

So Rob.....Have a Merry Christmas.

I have no problem with Mannheim. I love Trans Siberian Orchestra though, i go to see their live show every year. I'm all about very different styles of music being blended. Some of my favorite bands are bands that mix different styles. I loved when Metallic did the tour with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, so there's no surprise that i like TSO.
