...of course i'm missing 3rd and 4th gear but.. well.. yeah. but last winter i was getting pretty lousy economy once the snow started falling. it was a lot of low-speed driving and high-speed donuts -adam |

here's your bone that you didn't ask for...
I didn't run out of gas on purpose... I was only about a mile from the Canadian Tire gas bar.
Just figured while in a bad situation, "let's see just how much gas my favourite car guzzles...." I figured nobody pointed it out because they didn't want to come across as "Ha-ha, you ran out of gas..." ...or maybe they're thinking it but just too knid to say anything. (that's not how your comment comes across - I'm very easygoing, and at the moment, bored. can you tell?) |

also i think that all the cars that get +25 mpg are slower than the ones that dont. id rather not get a heater for my tranny. it cant be good for it even in negative farenheit. although, one of those magnetic block heaters might work in the morning.

When you filled up did you actually put in 18.5 gallons? I ran out once and could only squeeze in 17.99 gallons.
I didn't think the pump could actually suck the tank dry. I get about 25-26 highway, 20-22 city

Nah, I filled it with slightly less than 2 gallons from a jerrycan, put about 10 miles on it, then filled up at the pump and put in 61 litres... 16.1 gallons, so that brings us up to 18.1, minus about a half gallon from that 10 miles, so 17.6 was what would fit. Even if I could only cram 18 gallons in before I run dry that's still only 14.7MPG. Still bad.

Sorry for not assuming you had them commun knowledges Nemesis As for the cars getting more mileage being slower. it occurs to me that they'd logically be running leaner, thus making more power than one running richer. |

Well, now I know about the dark little secret. I suppose deep down, I really wanted to run it dry just to see...

I got good Gas mileage with the auto when I had it... But my best was around 26mpg on a trip from Oceana, VA to Beaufort, SC... My average speed was anywhere from 90-100mph... I think I've discovered that in the auto the faster you go the better gas mileage you get... (to a certian point ofcourse)... With the 5 speed I get about 21 around town and on trips if I keep the RPM's between 2,500 and 3,000 I'll get about 26-28mpg... The 5 speed seems to have the opposit effect that the aust had... Oh well I don't need any more speeding tickets anyway...

i am obsessed with tracking my mileage. i track it every time i refuel and keep the data in a spreadsheet. i am getting about 22.5 mpg lifetime in the claret and about 20.5 in the polo green. my driving is pretty evenly split between highway and city.

I get 22-24 miles per gallon with my 92 SVX. It doesn't seem to matter how I drive, really. I start looking for a gas station at 300 miles on the trip odometer.

I do ONLY highway driving, and lots of it. I get right around 25 mpg -- I set my trip odometer when I fill up and I usually get to 400 miles before I start to sweat. Of course, I haven't let svx files mod her at all -- she's stock except for the thermostat.
When svxfiles and I picked up our last (4th) SXV in Florida, we had to baby her (bad MAF sensor, we found out later) so we kept her to between 65-75 mph. On one stretch, we got 475 miles on one tank! (Okay, so we like to live dangerously.) I don't know how svxfiles' mileage is, you'd have to ask him, but I'm sure it's considerably lower than mine. Diana |

I'm still getting approx. 30mpg (Highway) split bet. my 92LSL & my 94LSi. I'm running at 2500 rpms (75mph) to 2700 (80mph), where I set my C.C. ,except when I occ. accelerate to 100+ when those honda's & accura"s jump on me and don't realize who their picking on!!!--- I KNOW some of you are smiling, because you've done it to. I know I speak for many , our SVX'S on the highway is a dream..... I believe that's where it's performance SHINE!!!

BTW I did push my 92LS-l up 150 mph a few times, while driving in Canada, the look on those "kids" faces who jump on me was straight out of a Steven Spielberg flim as their hand's hugged the the windows as I powered past them Though the 4EAT trans has it's problems, the Engine is a good feat of engineering....it was purring through out the run up....O yes when I got to my destination ......I got 27mpg that trip....!!!!!!!
