Aurora

Those with fairly dark skys around your home might want to look outside this evening. www.spaceweather.com says we are in good conditions for a good "northern lights" show tonight.

Thumbs up

I'll have to give it a look tonight. I've never actually seen it. Some of those pictures of it showing up look really cool, though. Thanks for the heads up.

Cool

And those of us who live in the city will have to settle for the fog lights of certain Oldsmobiles.

Ron (...seen St. Elmo's foyer once)!

if anyone is interested, there is a site that e-mails Aurora 'warnings' about 90 minutes before it may happen.

http://www.aurorachasers.com/

http://cleardarksky.com/csk/index.html to determine if your location will have good viewing conditions

I was flying recently up north at high altitude during the solar storms we had last month. The Northen lights were the brightest I have ever seen them (with exeption of being near the poles). The whole sky glowed neon green and beams of light would wave back and forth. The best was that it was a new moon and the city lights were covered by an overcast layer of clouds. It was a great night to be in the air! (no drugs were taken, or harmed to induce these visual sightings!)

Ron, quit lurking around my place trying to see my certain Oldsmobile's fog lights.

Dangit. I saw nothin' as far as nifty light in the sky goes.
