I need comforting
I'm in the svx version of hell,
First my stepfather buys this black 92' svx First problem- my mom gets hit in a mall parking lot in the middle of the day then they spend the ins, money on something else before selling the car to me. Second Problem- alternator went dead Then all the exhaust gaskets have had to be replaced the resonator is giving me problem the transmission is slipping the struts are gaoing bad/ maybe also the springs the wheel bearings went something is wrong w/ the ps then to top the cake, my front diff went which left my car immobile in the snow which rusted my wheels I wait two months before i could spot a diff (oohh I forgot to say my stepfather thought it was a brake lock and put $500 worth of brake supplies into the car). After a long time the diff was suppose to be out on and we find that it is not only leaking tranny fluid into the diff it is gushing into it All this in one ****ing year I'm am this close to crying out of anger, and going at that car w/ a sledge hammer... I believe I can see why most people hate this car. Can't sell it, nobody will buy it in it's condition What am I going to do? It's not like I have another car to fall back on. I think I'm going to have to give up. |

I think it would be far more accurate to say that most people have never heard of the SVX. And I think of those that have, far fewer have actually purchased one. Of those that own or have owned an SVX, I think that very few actually hate the car. Anyway, Super, I think you just have to deal with one problem at a time. If it's overwhelming and you can't handle it, then find another car. I would also say that the problems you're experiencing are not typical. Overall, my SVX has been a very reliable car. You just have to find one that was well taken care of. It sounds like maybe you (or your stepdad) didn't.

If you're looking for comforting in THIS forum, then stating that you can "see why people hate this car"... then you're asking in the wrong place!
I'm sure you can sell it... you just won't get much for it simply because it's obviously having... ahem... difficulties. Hell, I'd probably buy it as a "fixer-upper" if the price was right, but given the litany of damage you've stated here it sounds like it would have to be one HELL of a deal to make it worth mine or anyone else's while. I have to say that with the two SVX's I owned (so far?) I had problems, but nothing I'd consider Earth-shattering. Generally it was a damned good car with a couple of quirks that you either learned to live with or got rid of the car. Personally, I love them and would love to own another... just can't sink a lot of money into actually buying one in good condition these days |

If you're not willing to invest into a 11 year old car your best bet is to cut your losses and sell it. By getting all the stuff fixed and then selling it you'll spend more. If your looking for a way out and don't want to break a nail with your sledge here you go!
