Rear-End Clicking..

Lately I've noticed a mild amount of binding through turns under power, but I figured "hey, it's a 10 year old Subaru.. what're ya gonna do?" But now there's THIS.. When I make a right-hand turn any sharper than about 70 degrees from a complete stop, I get a faint clicking noise from the right-rear of the car. It only happens when I'm powering through the turn--if i just glide through under momentum, there's no problem save for a tiny amount of tire skip if I've got it near the adhesion limits, which I don't do very often.

I'd just assume right off the bat that I need to take a good long look at my rear differential and at least maybe change the fluid. Does anyone have any other input? I appreciate it..

Sounds like you have a loose nut between the steering wheel and the drivers seat. Glad to help

Plug in the FWD fuse and test the turns.

I had that problem and it was solved by replacing the external tranny filter and tranny cooler.

There was much debate over why it worked or if it was a coincedence. I think we finally came to the conclusion that a clogged line increases the pressure in the tranny and it is enough to push past the solenoid C and partially engage the rear wheels at times it shouldn't, like slow speed turns. The further it clogs, the more rear wheel power is in place at slow speeds.

Could also be a loose/broken suspension bushing.

I had a similar problem. It was a broken transmission mount. If you are getting a THUMP when accelerating and you let off the gas, it's probably the tranny mount.

if you had rear wheel steering id say check the CV joint. But hey, I'd check it anyway.
