So, got the mail today, and got a letter from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Turns outs I was denied admission . Sucks because now I have to figure out were I am going to go and what do. At least I have some time. Didn't have the greatest scores 1620 on SAT and 3.0 GPA but I was hoping but didn't work out.

it really comes down to how you scored on the old SAT. They don't really give a **** about the new system because its bogus and anyone in education will tell you the same. Extra-curriculars go a long way but most of all, your entry essay needs to be written well yet concise.

I was and still am in TSA, I chose TSA because my career will be in the Computer field, I am after a Computer Science Degree. I have held a job also. There wasn't not an essay required and I am taking a college course atm at FTCC (Fayetteville Technical Community College). If I pass it I will have a few credit hours not sure how many but its not alot. I was hoping this would look good but I guess it doesn't matter. I mean what more do they want I work, I do extra-curricular activities, and I even have started at college early. It sucks when you are denied something you think you have worked hard for. Also I made a 590 on the Math section, reading wasn't great don't remember what that was. Computer Science is considered a math degree I believe. I know AP Computer Science I took at school was the 2nd highest math offered at school, right below AP Calculus. I am looking for some advise if anyone has any to give.

590 in math isn't all that great... Don't get me wrong I scored double 510's on the SAT's.... granted I was hungover... But still. College is a tough game to play anymore... gotta have an edge over the next guy

I know I am not genius but I tried and thought it was decent. Your right it is hard game to play. I mean I know I wasn't a shoe in but it sucks to be denied. Its not about having money anymore, I don't get why they are so selective when 50% or so drop out their freshmen year. The letter suggested going to a another college and getting 30 credit hours and then transfer in. Guess thats what I am going to have to do.

transfers suck... they rarely take all the credits. Not calling u a dumb ass... I scored lower too. I applied to TCNJ as my first pick and Tempe U as my second. I didn't get into TCNJ so I went to Temple... Gotta have a fall back

I think I did better on the SATs because I was hungover. On the PSATs I did horribly...probably because I wasn't hungover.

Try the University of Wyoming, good SVX drift weather (snows a lot) and it's $4k a year in-state (Which you get after living there for a year), and that includes room & board, books, tuition, and meals... www.uwyo.edu

How does the new SAT score translate to the old score? Is there a way to figure what I scored using the old standard in todays system? I did a 1280 in 95 so what would I have gotten w/ the new test? Just curious.

Move to Alaska. Pretty much anyone can get into UAA and it's a great school. (;

But when you get your degree go back to where you came from. ):<

Lo j/p.

BTW, I got into my college on SATs alone. I failed something like 7 of my HS classes over 4 1/2 years because I never did my homework and my highest math was geometry or something. Though important, it didn't seem to matter as much. As SATs, which I breezed through.
