Question Runs in 2nd only

Any ideas why '92 runs only in 2nd? Does it mean tranny needs to be replaced? Any possibility it's a sensor or band adjustment?

But you are not far from a forum member who can set you up with a replacement.

Any 'power light' flashing at startup?
Does 1st work?
Has it been slipping, or did it just start doing this all of a sudden?

IIRC 2nd gear is the default mode if the Trans. computer is in failsafe mode, so there is a glimmer of hope...

when a car runs only runs in 2nd its called a "limp home" mode, which means somethings about to go very bad, you need something expensive most likely, that sucks, let us know whats wrong

Like it's been suggested before, try contacting Tom'sSVX. He is a member here, he does GREAT work, and at a more than fair price. He also has sources for replacement transmissions at a much lesser cost than any shop will charge

I see in an older post of yours you mention your husband prefers to do all his own work...If he would prefer to do a transmission swap himself, Im sure many members here will offer any help or advice you'll need

It would appear to me that an immediate, exact, unqualified a reply of this sort, is not good on the basis of several grounds and could wrongly direct a member, to their disadvantage.

Thanks to all who replied to my tranny question. Am in touch with TomsSVX. Didn't think it was good but one can always hope.
