another sad story

the wife returns from the super market yesterday. says a young guy admires the svx. tells her he has one, and man, is it fast! only problem is he says he just developed transmission failure and doesn't want to go to a dealer due to the cost and does she know anyone who works on svxs. she did give him our mechanic's name (i remind her he doesn't do trannie work) and tells him yeah, the car is prone to a few problem areas and suggests he get on the net and look for this site for any questions. i guess he bought the car on looks and speed without rersearching any potential danger areas.

Bill, who's "your" mechanic? I had some work done by Neubauer's Service, Ellicott City & Heritage Imports, Owings Mills. Both were quite satisfactory. I'll post a report in the Shop Search section when I get a chance.

Ron.

ron, for the last 2 years or so i've gone to a guy who works with his son in eldersburg near rt 27 and rt 32. he trades under "master-tech". his name is ian baggett, phone 410-781-7004. he is a jag trained mectanic but will work on anything. his labor rates are average ($65.00), but he has done alot for me without charge, especially when he is trying to find a problem. the important thing is that i trust the guy. he'll recommend used, aftermarket or oem if he thinks one is all right to use in relation to others, also he'll look for a used part if ya need one. now, one drawback as opposed to a large shop is that as it's just him and his son you may not be able to call monday, have the car in wednsday and out my 5 p.m. that day. but if you have a simple problem you can usually run by and he'll take a few minutes to look at it and see what he can do.
