Unhappy I've got a buzz!

So, my '92 SVX has a buzz.

Whenever you accelerate, it buzzes, almost like an electric motor. It doesn't really increase, or get too much louder, with speed. It just, well, speeds up a bit.

And it doesn't matter if you are accelerating slowly and gently, or hard and fast.

Any ideas what this could be? Or, indeed, if it's serious? Like a death rattle?

Thanks!

That is a very comon thing. Like it was suggested in the prior post, it is probably the heat shield.

Well, as to the wheel bearings, I imagine the sound would seem to be coming from more outside the car. This seems to come from the inside center, or from the front...the engine.

I've actually had the heat shield issue already, so it's not that. My mechanic solved that one by removing the outer, offending, heat shield.

So, the buzz is more engine compartment than anything else.

I'm still stumped. The transmission, maybe?

Transmissions don't usually buzz and bearings usually roar.

You know what, I have the same issue. After almost going crazy, I figured out it was the vents, the rear ones controlled by a motor for when you push circulate or not. Try sitting in the car, and when you hear it, play around with the Circ. button and see if the sound changes. Most annoying $%($ I've ever had to deal with, and I don't even know how I'm suppossed to fix it Anyone know if there's a fuse for that or something, because it's really ruining the whole car for me.

Let me add, though, that while it does not really get too much louder under acceleration, it does increase somewhat.

And it goes away completely when you take your foot off the gas.

So, the power steering idea seems reasonable...

Ok, let's see if you can relate to this issue:

It starts like this:

Buzz...Buzz...Buzz (maybe every 4 seconds)

and when it gets louder, it does this:

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzz...Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuzzz...Buz z...Buuuuuuuuuuuuzzz

lol, I know this looks retarded typing it, but if it's like this, then it might be worth doin the little vent test i told u about.
