Holy crap I want to kick this car

So, I bought up a 92 w/100k miles and a bad tranny. I have a good tranny sitting in my yard. I think "Hmmm, easy enough to get it running..I'll just put in my old 4EAT and it'll be good as new." So, I toook all of about 2 hours yesterday to get the BUSTED 4EAT out (front diff case was cracked, axle shafts were loose, etc). Today I thought "Sweet..I'll just lift the other tranny in there and be done. Can't wait to drive it"

Well, 3 hours later I can't get a friggen stock 4EAT back in. I've removed the dip stick tube cuz that was getting in the way, I've got the engine supported and slightly tilted back, I've got the tranny slightly tilted back as well, I have a nice transmission jack, but I cannot get it in!!!

I keep hitting various parts of the transmission on the transmission tunnel before I have sufficient clearance to move forward. I can't get the bell house bolts alighned with thier holes. All that crap on top of the tranny is just getting in the way and hitting the transmission tunnel. Its driving me insane

So, I know lots of you guys have pulled a 4EAT and replaced it in like no time flat. What am i doing wrong??

you have to have the front of the trans higher, like slide the front onto the bottom studs, and then lift the back up to get the top to line up, i managed to do it with two floor jacks and 3 people

Significant Technical Input
Be certain that the convertor is fully installed and that you don't have alignment dowels in both the engine and the trans.

ooo...thanks for that reminder, Beav. THat's not what I'm running into now, but I very well could've. I'll check that.

I guess I'll just have to get the front of the trans up higher. Just seems sketchy angling it like that. Putting the 5MT up there was SO much easeir
