Question Aftermarket Ford ECU chips

Does anyone know of a good company that has aftermarket modified ECU or ECU piggyback chips for Ford vehicles? Chike, maybe???

My dad has a 2002 Ford Ranger - SOHC 4.0 liter V6. I was hoping to help him get an aftermarket chip for some more power (and possibly remove the electronic governor, as well). This thing only puts out about 210hp and 240ft/lbs, which IMHO isn't enough for 4.0 liters. It is also governed at 90mph.

If it works out well, he would like to see if a similar chip would be available for my mom's 1989 Ford Bronco 5.0 liter.

not sure how well they actually work

but check with
www.jetchip.com

and search around for Superchip and maybe
Hypertech now and see what they are offering.

My brother has a 94 4.0 ranger......we never bothered
with a chip, but we did do some other mods to it that
seemed to be worthwhile.
Chips usually work best if you already have a better
airfilter and muffler too.

I know the perfect 'chip'. Take the 5.0 out of the bronco and put it in the ranger

Deruvian,

When I owned my Lightning, the most popular chip used was the DiabloSport Chip: http://www.diablosport.com/

However, they only make chips for the 5.4L and 4.6L Ford modular V8's. I also think they only offer chips for the '97 and newer Ford cars/trucks...

That being said, besides the tuner that Dayle recommended, I would also suggest Superchips: http://www.superchips.com/

They would make a chip for both your dad's '02 Ranger and mom's '89 Bronco.

Good luck!

-Chike

SuperChips

I'm going to have one installed in my SVT Focus as soon as I can afford it. Focus Fanatic magazine gave them a rave review.
