Angry Headlight woes continue

Ok so i need some help with my headlight problems. I bought those stupid HiLite bulbs. The bulb is colored blue but the light is bright white. Anyway the drivers side bulb is always going on and off. The passenger side bulb is working perfectly. At night i will turn the headlights on and the left bulb will always appear to be out. I will pop the hook and press the bulb back into the thing it connects into and the light comes back on. But now when i try to press it in it will go on but when i let go it goes off. So i took the bulb out in my garage and it burned the brown plastic inside the connector. The passenger side bulb didnt do this. So i think i need to buy another connector or something. Its not a bulb problem because i switched the bulbs and the same thing happened. The bulbs are 9007 i think and the same wattage as the SVX stock bulbs ( or at least that is what i was told). Im going to go to the store and buy a new connector or whatever its called. Is there any specific one i should buy? Any advice?

The bulb should be a 9006. I would stay away from any cheap blue bulb. I had them belt 2 connectors on me.

You should be able to get a new 9006 socket relatively cheap. ($3 maybe)

Just make sure to solder the new one in.

would you have any idea why the left bulb burned the connector and the other bulb didnt?

Nope, I've had the left one fail twice. I now use a small amount of conducting paste in the socket when I change bulbs to ensure conductivity.

Thats a great idea earthworm. Where would i get that type of paste? Would the auto store have it? And i would put the paste into the socket that the bulb clicks into right?

That's right. Just be careful that you don't join both contacts shorting it out.

Stuff I've used before is Antiseize (or is it Neverseize?) as well as thermal paste for CPU heatsinks.
