Weird "feel" when backing up ...

Since Ive been gone for a while Im going to ask for a few opinions on a few SVX quirks and see if others are having similar issues to our beloved cars.
A> ,,,while backing up,it happens more when your turning the wheel...Do the brakes give a pulsation feel when you hit them > and or you get a clunk outta the front suspension ? keep in mind only in reverse this seems to happen. The car stops fine, but the noise and pulsation concerns me. Thanks!

Does it feel like the 4-wheel drums of old when one wants to stick? That's how mine feel when backing up. I've lived with it for years. I figure that the suspension is just a little loose and maybe parts are shifting.

If you find out what it is, let me know.

Once, I got a weird feeling when backing up. Turned out to be the door knob on the closet. Ooooh, that smarts.

This happens to my car once in awhile right after a cold start. The explanation I got at the time was that it was normal - the ABS was going through it's checks. So I stopped rushing the car, gave it a few seconds before I backed up after a start, and everything was smooooth.

I have no idea why your car would do this when it's warm, though...

ABS

Mine does the same thing. Normally while backing up. Years ago this bugged me, then I read this in my SVX owner manual (page 6-15)

"Soon after starting the engine and reaching a speed of about 4 mph, you will momentarily hear the sound of the ABS system operating in the engine compartment. This sound is that of the system checking itself out and is not an indication of a malfunction."

Since I only have to back up a short distance, this happens to me while backing up and hitting the brakes, so I can feel it in the brake pedal as it does this.

Since it waits until you hit 4mph, I must not have even gotten up to that speed while backing out of my spot...

dayle

I HATE YOU!!!!

Damn that car looks great. Good work. Excluding the hood scoop, you white SVX looks dynamite. Take a look in my personal locker and give me your opinion of my SVX. Any suggestion to how I can make it look even better? How much did you pay for the paint job on the Soarer?
