best place for CV joints?

Anyone know the best source for front axles? I sure don't. And what;s with the cv boots ripping at 30k? Both our svx's needed new boots/joints at the same miles...

Marty at raxles (www.raxles.com) can hook you up. his axles aren't the cheapest you'll find.. in fact they're on the pricier end, but they're QUALITY.. i'm sure NAPA or someplace like that can get you a reman. unit for cheep..

i'd like to test out the pep boys axles, but i have to admit as pricey as marty's axles are, i've had great luck with them. they do take pride in what they do and marty's funny as hell to boot. raxles does very good business and i highly recommend them. had a problem with my order, he phoned me right away stating that he would not be able to ship the order out as promised. he told me that he tested the axle and was not very happy with the result and would rather build me another. very timely with the second eta report.

kudos for marty and raxles!

lifetime warranty is nice

Have you thought about WHY you keep ripping CV-boots (at low milage)?

Are you driving in rough areas with lots of rocks & branches that could put a hole in the boot? Are you driving the cars really hard (turn a corner & stomping on the gas)?.

Also, have the cars had long periords where they've not been driven (probably have with the low milage)? Rubber doesn't last forever and will deteriorate. If this is the case, save yourself the headache & do both axles at once.

Just my $.02

PS - you're likely to need an alignment done when you replace 1 or both axles.

175 ea from raxle.

We got the 97 w/shot boots/joints so it wasn't us that ripped them. Our 92 went around the same mileage so it's the boots that're suspect. And the wife unit drives like the church lady so maybe it from going too slowly.
