Non SVX question

Hi y'all!

I've been scratching my head in regard to the wife's Forrester. Knowing that Subaru likes to use components across models (MAF sensor on SVX same as Impreza same as Forrester, etc.) I was just wondering if the wiper motor workings on a Forrester were the same as those on an Impreza. The one on the wife's machine is demonstrating some erratic behavior (long story about a trip to the body shop after someone, me, dropped a canoe on the roof. Like I said, long story).

Anyway, I'm looking for a used one to put in as they are normally pretty reliable but am having a hard time finding one for the Forrester and would probably do better with an Impreza search.

Any help, as always, is appreciated.

Thanks,

John

John, since the Forester is based on the Impreza, it's a real possibility that the parts are very similar or identical. Please let us know what you find.

Dropped a canoe on the roof of the wife's car........

This must be the old "Up sh*ts creek, without a paddle" story.

You definitely have more than wiper motor problems.

Good Luck.

Yeah, I was a real popular guy that day. Anyway, the guys had to remove the windshield to repair the roof (and the hood needed painting also!!) and, in so doing, took off the wiper arms. Unfortunately, when they re-installed them they must have removed them in the "up" position and put them back on in the "down" or home, position. So later in the day, when it started to snow, and I turned them on they immediately tried to go "down" into the engine compartment.

After taking the weekend to work on the thing I found that an Impeza wiper motor is identical. What I also found was that the wiper motor in the thing was fine but what had broken was the little plastic retainer that holds the linkage to the end of the motor drive shaft.

Any body need a Forrester/Impreza wiper motor???

Now I have to track down the little plastic bit to keep it from falling apart. And getting yet more heat from the spouse at the house.

Thanks for the encouragement and support.
John
