Cool My SVX's First AutoX

Wow, what a rush! Thanks to Harry for all the advice, Rufus for his air pump, Ron for talking pictures while I was on the course, and Olu, John, Trish, Sigrid, et al who made it a great SVX family outing! I've posted pictures in my locker - AutoX 6/8/03 folder.
-Bill (47.51 seconds and looking to dip into the 45-46s next time)
p.s. Didn't think I was ever going to get around that last 360 cone - car just kept wanting to drift out - was a blast accelerating around it though!!

Thumbs up

Not to mention that Austin can go to his buddies & say, "My dad can beat your dad"!

Good work from a novice driver in an SVX clocking 170K.

Ron (cone head).

Cone head,
Thanks again for taking the pictures while I was running the course! Austin has already stated that he won't go again unless his can keep riding "shotgun" (fyi - one of the women from the MB club informed me after I was all done that they only allow kids under 16 to ride for one of the practice runs). I'm looking forward to learning more from Harry about the "mental" side of this adventure and doing minor things (okay, new springs probably don't fall under "minor") to the car.
Guess the next move is to get you in the driver's seat for the next meet

First AutoX

Let me know the next time you guys go. I doubt I'll drive the SVX as I can't afford new tires after every couple of Xs plus until I do my timing belt (keeps getting pushed back as grown up things pop up) but I would love to bring the XT6 down and beat the crap out of it. Almost have it set up to start. Just fixed the power steering, put new rotors on the front and bled the brakes. Hoping to order a new muffler today for it and then I'm set! Tires are fairly cheap for it compared to the SVX plus if something breaks its just a trip to any of the 5 closest junkyards for supplies.

Maybe you could let Austin drive next time. I'm sure we could get him a good fake i.d.

Todd,
Thanks! Yeah, I wonder where I'd be today if my Dad had taken me "driving" like this when I was 11 (probably would have taken GMI up on their college admittance offer ). How goes your coil over efforts? Were you going to look into better bushings for the sway bars?

I would like to Hear what Trish (John's wife..Mrs. SVXcess} thought of her first autocross. I think it would be interesting to get a woman's opinion.

I checked the MB site and the next autoX at the WSSC facility is the 10th of August. I've got to check with Harry to see what the MB club is going to do, as they've sold out all 50 of their slots now - several of us only got to drive because people didn't show up.
