Phil,
PM TomsSVX and SubaFreak - they've both done 6spd swaps.

Money....

The 6 speed ain't cheap and neither is the r180. I got lucky and got a good pirce on a previous car so I could afford it. I also got a steal on the parts.

Its possible to do the 6MT conversion without installing the R180. All you need is 3.90 ring and pinion gear from an R160 with a 3.90 axle ratio. The mid '90s Imprezas have this axle ratio. This is what I did this for a customer in Switzerland. Then the 6MT install is not much more difficult than the 5MT install and not quite expensive as doing the R180 option.

I only used the R180 becuase it was at a good price to begin with. I didn't feel like blowing up an R160 if I began to make more power. The SVX should have been equipt with an R180 to begin with, but that is a whole different discussion

So it possible to swap original rear diff with Suretrac Rear LSD R160 ring and pinion gears? I mean, would it be better or more headache, trying to fit them in?
