Power mode vs. gas mash?

Is there a real difference between using power mode and just mashing the gas?

When I mash the gas the car accelerates past 4000 RPM almost up to redline but theres no power light.

But when I tap the gas twice and hold the gas down on the second tap like in cruising world the power light comes on and does the same thing.

Is there any real difference?

Power mode or "gas mash" do the same thing, except that in power mode, the transmission uses a different gear change map. It will change down sooner and run to a higher rpm before it changes. There is no change in the engine power or performance.

Power mode is activated by the speed in which you push the pedal to the floor, ie the urgency.... you shouldnt have to double tap it...

The easiest way to engage power mode for me is to lift my heel off the floor then mash the gas down with my toe.
I call this "the ballet approach." Should I be wearing my tu tu when I use this technique ?

As long as you're not wearing that thong, go ahead and wear the tutu. Otherwise, please spare us.
