Fresh SVX motor?

I am hoping someone can give me a clue as to why an SVX with well under 180 thousand miles would need a fresh motor from Subaru? I had a blown connecting rod BUT it had 202000 miles before that happened. Any ideas

Larry, there could be any number of causes. Aside from the engine just giving up (unlikely), over 180,000 miles a driver or mechanic could do plenty of things that would cause damage to the engine.

Could you possibly be more specific? Has the engine been replaced, or is a dealer telling you it needs to be replaced? Have they told you why? Is this your car? A friend's? One you're looking to buy?
