Is VDC exclusive for VTD cars?

On a local forum, there is a claim that VDC traction control/ESP only occur on VTD cars. Is this correct?

I see from interweb that such was the case before but is this valid still?

VDC is only equipped on some VTD cars. Not sure about overseas, but here in the states it was only available after 2001 on very select outback models. It limits wheel slip on acceleration based on the ABS sensors. It applies the brake to any wheel that is turning faster.

VDC also utilizes a yaw and steering angle sensor to detect driving conditions where loss of control may occur and limits throttle response and applies brakes to one or more wheels to avoid this condition.

In North America, it was only ever available on VTD cars.

I could have used it today... came too fast around a bend, frosty and no studded tires. Back came out and I was going sideways around the corner just to see a logging truck with two trailers coming towards me with a row of cars after it. Made a short hard break, overcorrected, overcorrected again and again and finally managed to settle.

Split seconds from distaster.
